November, 26, 2007 a group of young people who came from different corners of Ukraine (Nova Kahovka, Kharkiv, Ternopil’, Chernihiv and Mirhorod) visited the SPC’s office.

Their visit was one of the planned meetings with Sumy region NGOs, which were foreseen by the project “Sumy NGOs – partners from Ukraine” of the Sumy Regional Committee of Youth Organizations, which is financed by the East-Europe Democracy Centre.

TRAININGS FOR THE PRETRIAL INCARCERATION AND A PRISON

November, 21, 2007 a head of the Sumy Volunteer Agency of the RNGO “Social Partnership Centre” Nataliya Marchenko and the volunteer Krasnova Olesya visited Sumy Pretrial Incarceration Institution and Sumy Prison #116, located on Romenskaya Street.

A training concerning HIV/AIDS prevention among youth called “Be aware of HIV/AIDs, choose LIFE” was dedicated to the World AIDs Day under a slogan “Let Your Heart Beat” and thus was offered for the wards. Volunteers communicated with the teenagers detained in Sumy Pretrial Incarceration Institution from 9 o’clock till 13 o’clock in the morning. Volunteers were staying in the classroom where 6 wards from each cell were brought. It was hard to contact at first but when volunteers showed them that namely communication was supposed to occur and not a usual theoretical lection, they opened themselves for the contact.

VOLUNTEERS SHOW THE WORLD TO CHILDREN

Every Friday Sumy Volunteer Agency volunteers of the RNGO “Social Partnership Centre” visit Sumy regional shelter for minors within the “Fun Hour In The Shelter” volunteer project, which has been organized by a Swiss volunteer Luca De Carli. He and two more girls – Valeria Pidlucka and Olesya Krasnova, took as an aim to organize joyful entertainment, which is rich in content and helps to develop perspective, what is the most important for children who are less fortunate.
